Notes

What can I say? An undisclosed amount of alcohol and a few drags from a suspiciously magic cigarette left me quite receptive, and by the time Lesser Snake came around I distinctly remember starting to reel. I'm altogether completely surprised that this recording came out as nice as it did - a swaying inebriated dipshit way in the back of a venue not known for its acoustics is very lucky to come away with a recording this wonderful.

The music was, and, I hasten to add, still is, even under the oftimes oppressive fog of sobriety, incredible. Let's not mince words, and let's not take lack of verbosity for lack of intense appreciation - these guys kick ass. Forty minutes of wall-to-wall sound. No dead air, no fucking around, no "please buy our shit" - just giving the taper exactly what he wanted. Goin' South seemed to go on forever. The whole show... so intense. If you're into droning stuff, death marches, synth loops, or strangely hypnotic, deceivingly simplistic, mysteriously off-kilter rhythms, check these guys out - think My Bloody Valentine meets Sonic Youth meets Melvins meets David Thomas and the Two Pale Boys (minus the accordion).

I was hoping to get in touch with the band (who were all very polite gentlemen when I encountered them before the set) to verify the setlist, but it never quite happened. Two songs are thus untitled - if anyone knows either one of 'em, lemme know!
