I pulled the above line-up info from the stormofdreams.net (excellent site with much info about Pharoah Sanders ). I also got the set-list for the first set, presented here, at the same site. Much thanks to whomever hosts that site. I am unsure of the last two tracks titles here, so they remain untitled for now.

I did not see an entry for this show at the "Sun Ra Tapeography" site, although I did read this there: "On November 1-3, 1991, the Arkestra played in Oakland, California. On this occasion local musicians India Cooke (vln), Kash Killion (clo), Ronald Wilson (bs), and Eddie Gale (tp) were included. [Plonsey]".

Again, much thanks to the folks who host and work on that site. It is excellent and a big help for researching tapes. Considering that I did not see this show listed there I am thinking that it might not be widely circulated. I could be wrong! Either way, it's a great show so I decided to share it.

OK, about the recording: simply put, it is a decent (very good) audience recording. Not the best and far from the worst! It's a low-gen tape. It has a bit of hiss, but not too bad. I think it sounds fine and I am certain most will agree. I am on my third listen today and I'm really digging it. The violin solos are pretty swell and I also really enjoyed Bruce Edwards' guitar solos. "The World Shadow" is pretty far-out! As mentioned above, Pharoah plays with the band for the first set only. I am thinking that it is Pharoah speaking at the end of the first set (again, I could be wrong).

Also need to note... a bit of noise during the first minute or so, it sounds like something brushing up against the mic used for the recording. It does not last long at all. There is a tape flip at the end of "The World Shadow", which cuts that piece a bit short (it still clocks in at over 15 minutes). There are no cuts or missing music on the last three tracks (from the second set). This is exactly as my copy is.
