Notes

Ah, Andrew WK. This was the 10th anniversary tour for his first album (played straight through from tracks 2-13 below), and it was also just about 10 years to do the day since I first saw him at Bottom Of The Hill. So that was kind of weird to realize at this show. If anyone has any of his previous San Francisco shows (aside from my recording of the Calder Quartet show), please share.

I was a little surprised he was playing a place this big, because he'd never played anywhere bigger than Slims back in his "popular" days. Turns out he shouldn't have been here, because a Slims-size crowd showed up. But it was pretty fun. Still a drunken mess of a show (the crowd - not WK) and a lot of crowd surfing and probably at least half the crowd ended up on stage at some point (not an exaggeration).

As for the sound - the sound at the Regency ain't great. The first time I went there, I almost left because it was so bad. I've found the recording gets easier to listen to, probably just because you get used to it, after awhile on headphones. Another thing unreleated to the sound quality is that WK's mic wasn't working so much during the first couple songs or so. It's not that noticeable just listening to it because there are 5 other people singing with him most of the time, but you may notice it. For a bit, he ended up standing at the back of the stage using the mic at his keyboard.
